Barnes & Noble is opening 60 new stores in 2026. Are any in Wisconsin?

After decades of decline, Barnes & Noble is continuing its recent streak of growth by opening 60 new stores in 2026.
That's in addition to dozens of stores the bookstore chain opened in 2024 and 2025, according to USA TODAY. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more stores than it had any single year between 2009 and 2019, the company said.
As of late December, it does not appear any of the new Barnes & Noble stores will be in Wisconsin – though the Milwaukee area has enjoyed the opening of several independent bookstores this year.

Where are Barnes & Noble stores opening in 2026?
As of Dec. 22, Barnes & Nobles is planning to open new stores in Ohio, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Colorado, Washington, California, Virginia, Georgia and Washington, D.C. before June 2026, USA TODAY reported.
The company currently operates about 600 bookstores across every U.S. state, according to its website.

Mayfair Mall: 2500 N. Mayfair Road, Wauwatosa
